Months of planning and preparation will come together this weekend, as the annual Piggott Heritage Car Show is set. This year’s schedule of events will kick-off Friday evening with the Ultimate Talent Show. The show will be held at the Piggott Community Center and proceeds from the $5 admission, and entry fees, benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Currently, a variety of acts from three states will be featured and the public is encouraged to attend. The winner will be determined by the crowd, as they vote for their favorite with donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. And, in keeping with the tradition began last year, car show organizers will also match each dollar raised. The family-friendly event is sponsored by Piggott State Bank.
Prior to the start of the car show on Saturday, May 20, the Piggott Lions Club will be hosting a fundraising breakfast at the community center. The meal will be served from 6 to 10 a.m. and all proceeds benefit their many sight-saving efforts.
Piggott’s Heritage Park will open to the public at 9 a.m. Saturday for this year’s car show. Gate admission is $3 for everyone age 13 and over, with those 12 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult. The concession stand will open at 10 a.m. and the show and shine will be going out throughout the remainder of the day.
Saturday evening another popular tradition continues, as the participants will line-up for the annual cruise through town. Beginning at 7 p.m. they’ll make their way from the park, to the downtown court square, for an evening live music and fun under the lights. A new group will be featured as this year’s Saturday night entertainment as the Justin Heskett Band will take to the stage around 8 p.m.
Gospel singing will be featured beginning at 9:15 a.m. Sunday at the Piggott Community Center. Afterward, around 9:45, the awards ceremony will be held as organizers are slated to hand out a variety of prizes. Among them will be the top 10 motorcycles, top 10 vehicles, people’s choice and the coveted best of show. A number of specialty awards will also be distributed.
Pre-registration continues, and participants may also register at the park the day of the show. Registration is $35 per vehicle, with additional vehicles belonging to the same owner added for $5 each. There is also a Saturday only rate of $20 available, which entitles the participant to all judging and festivities on Saturday, with the exception of the evening meal.
