Khorgos to host trade exhibition of Kazakhstan goods

ALMATY (TCA) — A trade exhibition of goods manufactured in Kazakhstan will be held from July 1 to October 1, 2017 at the Khorgos International Center of Boundary Cooperation (ICBC) on the Kazakh-Chinese border, the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan reported.

It is expected that the event will be attended by 100,000 visitors from China and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries.

In 2016, the Khorgos center of cross-border cooperation was visited by more than three million people, including 2.5 million of entrepreneurs and tourists from China.

“Participation in the exhibition is an excellent opportunity to present products in such a huge market as China. Kazakhstani enterprises are very poorly represented at ICBC Khorgos. We also received applications for participation in the exhibition from Russian manufacturers. But our domestic companies have priority. The package of services for businesses includes an interpreter who will help in concluding business agreements,” said Zarina Zhanserkeyeva, the head of programs at the SCO Business Council.

She also noted that Chinese entrepreneurs and tourists are much interested in Kazakhstani food products. But the two countries have different sanitary epidemiological requirements. Now the issue of creating a joint Kazakh-Chinese laboratory is being decided.

“On May 14, a protocol was signed between our countries on the supply of 100,000 tons of pork meat [from Kazakhstan to China]. There is no such volume throughout Kazakhstan. After studying the market, we found an investor, developed a project, submitted it to the akimat (state administration), which prepared the land for the construction of a pig complex. It will include a feeding complex, a meat processing workshop, a manure processing plant. It is a wonderful example of the work of ICBC Khorgos as a platform for getting to know each other and establishing business ties,” Zhanserkeyeva said.
