PITTSBURGH (AP) – A Southwest Airlines jetliner scheduled to land at Pittsburgh International Airport diverted to a smaller airport because of an air show.
The flight from Orlando was scheduled to land around 4 p.m. Sunday. But airspace was closed because of Wings Over Pittsburgh. The flight landed at Allegheny County Airport instead.
Southwest says in order to avoid using the contingency fuel reserve, the captain declared an emergency to receive priority handling out of an abundance of caution.
No one was injured and buses were used to get the flight’s 143 passengers to Pittsburgh.
