Classic car show benefit to be held in Girard

BENEFIT CAR SHOW: The ”Cars are the Stars 3” benefit classic car show will be held 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of the Girard Multigenerational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave. Rain date is June 10. Registration is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Trophies will be presented at 3:30 p.m. There will be deejay, food and activities.

SPEAKER AT GARDEN: Ohio State University extension Master Gardener and prize-winning gardener Jack Hineman will speak 6 p.m. Wednesday at Howland Community Gardens, North River Road. The topic will be ”Growing vegetables and tomatoes.” Master Gardeners will be available to answer gardening questions. Those attending can bring a chair.

MUSEUM OPEN: The Butts Family Museum, intersection of Routes 193 and 305 in Fowler will be open 1 to 4 p.m. the fourth Sunday of each month June to October. For information or tours call 330-507-9078 or 330-360-7796.

OHWOW WORKSHOP: The OH WOW! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science and Technology, 11 West Federal St., Youngstown, will host ”Make Physics Toys” for ages 6 and older, from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday. Make your own toys during the family workshop.

BOOK SIGNING: Ty Hicks, a Warren G. Harding football player and former Ohio State and Cleveland Browns football player will host a book signing 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Buena Vista Cafe, 1305 Buena Vista Ave., Warren. Hicks wrote ”Taken Hostage By the Beast.”

LIBERTY COMMUNITY PANTRY: The Liberty Community Pantry provides food to residents of Liberty 10 a.m. to noon the first Friday of each month through the summer at Churchill United Methodist Church, 189 Churchill Hubbard Road. Summer dates for the pantry are June 2, July 7 and August 4. Those needing items must bring a bag or box and also photo identification. For information call 330-759-0118.

CAR SHOW: The Lordstown Dairy Queen, Tod Avenue, will hold a car show 5:30 to 8 p.m. each Wednesday May 31 to Sept. 27. There will be 50-50 raffle and trophies, This week is ”Dash Plaque Night” with first 50 cars getting a dash plaque.
