What’s the plan for today?
This will be the first time the players will get together as Lions, with all 41 members of the squad meeting up, along with the management. The venue will be the Syon Park Hilton, which is in south west London, between Brentford and Isleworth, near Kew Gardens.
The player admin day will involve all the required paperwork being done ahead of the trip, while there will also be medical screening and the military operation that is the allocation of kit. Back in 1977, the Lions players were given just two jerseys for a tour of New Zealand that featured 25 matches and lasted for three months, with their off-field wardrobe comprising a pair of grey slacks, a tie and a blazer.
Forty years on, it will be very different. The players won’t be able to move for Canterbury playing and training kit and formal wear courtesy of Thomas Pink.
In terms of media access, Warren Gatland will kick off a press conference around 10am and we’ll be bringing you live updates right here.
