A coalition of ethnic groups in the country has called on the Federal Government to urgently convoke a national youth conference, which will have the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, in attendance.
They said the conference would provide the Acting President an opportunity to hear directly the grievances of the youths, stressing that it would also calm frayed nerves and restore the country to the path of unity.
In a communiqué issued in Jos on Friday, they called for a ceasefire among the various youth groups in the country, saying demands for secession would do more harm to the country.
This is sequel to the tension generated by the three months’ eviction notice given by Arewa youths to Igbo people to leave the 19 northern states before October 1, 2017. The group noted that the constitution of Nigeria guarantees Nigerians the right to live in any part of the country.
While calling for an end to verbal attacks, the group also condemned the quit notice.
